A key leadership role has arisen within the Women’s and Children’s group at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to lead the Obstetric Ultrasound Department and provide sonography support to Fetal Wellbeing unit and Fetal Medicine department. University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is committed to providing staff with learning and development opportunities to support their career progression. Our maternity services provide care for approximately 6000 women and their families, offering a consultant-led unit, alongside Birth Centre, and homebirth service for our diverse population, we have a level 3 neonatal service and close links within the Local Maternity and Neonatal Service.

The successful applicant must be able to:
• To have overall responsibility for the day to day clinical and operational management of the ultrasound department with the maternity service
• To ensure the delivery of an effective clinical obstetric ultrasound service and to undertake the role of the Sonography Lead in obstetric ultrasound covering Fetal Wellbeing scans, alongside the Lead Consultant in Fetal Medicine and the main obstetric ultrasound department.
• To lead by example, maintaining clinical expertise and promoting high imaging standards
• To take a lead role in clinical assessment and co-ordination of ultrasound training for Midwife Sonographers, students and others.
• To develop, manage and supervise the ultrasound component of the First Trimester Combined Screening (FTCS) Programme.
• To work with the screening team to ensure compliance with National Screening Committee and FASP standards.
• To be the local nominated lead – Screening Support Sonographer (SSS) as detailed in the NHS Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme (FASP) documentation.
• To represent the department at appropriate Trust Committees and to contribute to the successful overall performance of the Trust
• To provide expert ultrasound information and advice to women, midwife sonographers and radiographers, and other health care professionals and agencies.
• Responsible for the continuous monitoring and audit of the obstetric ultrasound service.
