An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Midwifery Support Workers Band 3 to become part of the Postnatal Ward Team and these posts are for internal candidates within the Obstetric and Gynaecology division only.
This unique opportunity is ideal for individuals who are keen to embrace a new challenge and expand their knowledge and skills in this specialist area.
The postnatal ward is a fast paced busy environment to work in and you will work closely within the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of care whilst maintaining a safe, efficient environment.
Although the role can be challenging, it will provide excellent personal development opportunities and job satisfaction.
It is expected that you will participate in the following:
Maternal and baby routine care..
Maternal and baby observations.
Maternal and baby blood sampling
Contemporaneous record keeping
Parent education which includes discharge information and bath demonstrations
Infant feeding support in line with BFI
Babies requiring additional needs – You will be expected to work alongside a midwife to provide care to babies requiring extra monitoring and specialist care. This involves multi-disciplinary working therefore excellent communication skills must be demonstrated.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Midwifery support worker who has achieved NVQ Level 3 qualification and has GCE Maths and English, or equivalent.
It is essential that you have the ability to work independently and under supervision. Good interpersonal and organisational skills are essential for this post.
The successful applicant will be given specialist training from the midwifery education team and support from enthusiastic and dedicated Midwives.
