Join us at an exciting time for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! We have recently been awarded an improved CQC rating of Good and are proud of what we’ve achieved. We have an ambitious plan for our journey to Outstanding and are looking for aspirational, committed individuals to join us, making a real difference to both staff and patients.

As a former winner of England for excellence award: Tourism destination of the year, the beautiful city of Gloucester and the scenic regency spa town of Cheltenham are fantastic places to work and live.

As a hospital Trust we are currently involved in over 100 clinical trials and studies, whilst also providing acute elective and specialist services to a population of over 620,000.

By joining Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust new colleagues can look forward to a warm welcome and a future full of opportunities and support.

This exciting new post has been created to provide dedicated leadership for the provision of contraception to our women with complex social needs across the Maternity Services and a focus on improving care for the most vulnerable women who use our services. The Specialist Midwife will develop care pathways to enable women to receive contraceptive counselling antenatally, make a postnatal contraceptive plan and receive their preferred method of contraception. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive programme of training and mentoring support for midwives.

Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust’s Maternity Service currently provides care for approximately 6000 births. throughout the county in a range of acute and community settings. The Women’s Centre based at Gloucester Royal Hospital provides care for approximately 4500 women who give birth in the Obstetric Unit. We are very proud that 30% of women in Gloucestershire currently give birth in a Midwifery-led facility or at home under the care of the midwife, with 1200 women give birth in the Alongside Birth Unit and a further 650 women give birth in one of our two free standing midwifery led units,

in Cheltenham or Stroud.

Our Midwifery led care model is already well developed and promoting normality and providing choice and personalised care are well embedded principles, however we have ambition to take our services to

the next level and develop the midwives contribution to prevention and public health as a priority in order to improve health outcomes for women in the county.

If you are a Registered Midwife and are trained in sexual and reproductive health, we would like to hear from you and encourage you to contact us to find out more about this opportunity to drive forward our prevention agenda. You will need a track record in leading change and engaging staff to provide outstanding Maternity Services.
