Nursing & Midwifery Council
Job Ref:

Millions of people each year are cared for by the 650,000 nurses and 40,000 midwives registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). As their regulator, the NMC exists to safeguard the public's health and wellbeing by maintaining the UK's nursing and midwifery register, setting standards for education and practice, and acting if a nurse or midwife's fitness to practise is called into question.

In order to ensure that the standards that we set are appropriate and achievable, we are seeking the expertise of one of our registered Midwives to join us as Senior Midwifery Education & Policy Advisor, to provide the NMC with the expertise of midwifery which will help shape education and policy. You will work with our external midwifery expert and play a key role in our ‘Future Midwife’ programme, ensuring that the views and experiences of our registrant midwives are utilised in this reshaping of midwifery education. You will also work across our organisation, being called on increasingly as the NMC’s midwifery advisor, and work with other directorates and internal experts to ensure that our systems, processes, policies and standards are designed with midwives in mind.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and an ability to advise and collaborate both within the NMC and as an external representative. You will be a registered midwife, with current insight into the challenges that face the profession and will additionally bring broader experience gained from time spent within a policy or education setting.

For an informal and confidential discussion please contact our advising consultants, GatenbySanderson, on 020 7426 3984.
