At BPAS, we are looking for a Telemedical Lead Nurse (or Midwife) who is passionate about women’s health, dedicated to giving exceptional client care and who are able to support women and men through their care journey with BPAS. As the Telemedical Lead Nurse (or Midwife) you will lead and manage other Nurses who are involved in the provision of the Telemedical Service at the unit, and to deputise in the absence of the Treatment Unit Manager.

Key Responsibilities;

Establish that the client is sure of her decision to request a termination, and ensure that the reason complies with the terms of the Abortion Act.
Discuss, inform and confirm the client’s future choice of contraception, and provide STI results over the phone.
Make arrangements for the admission of clients, notifying any specific requirements (medical or physical) where necessary and complete all the referral documentation.
To understand clients’ individual needs and maintain a helpful, courteous approach to clients or their designated contacts..
To maintain good communications within the area of responsibility and with all other units/departments to provide a unified approach to client care.
Assist in the orientation of new staff, including bank and agency staff, and provide an environment conducive to learning in which staff are able to develop.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse or Midwife who have experience of working within a clinical environment, where you have supervised or managed other clinical staff. You will have experience of working to guidelines, policies and procedures, and also have experience of completing client documentation.

We are also looking for:

Knowledge of the Abortion Act, Health & Safety, COSHH requirements, Infection Control and Child Protection
Exceptional listening skills along with great interpersonal and communication skills
Attention to detail with accurate administrative competence
A friendly, professional, supportive and non-judgmental person with a commitment to a client-led service
Salary :£33,266-£38,232 per annum pro rata (please note that this is a BPAS Salary Band and the exact Agenda For Change Band values are not applicable. Please see ‘additional information’ for more details.)

Starting salary will be in accordance with the scale points published in our terms and conditions of employment attached and will be dependent upon experience, skills and qualifications.

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week | To be worked from flexibly across Monday to Friday 8am-8pm & Saturday to Sunday 8am-4pm across the Birmingham Telemedical Hub (some home working as well)
