There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are due for completion by 2025 or soon after. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

At West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, we have a great opportunity for newly qualified Midwives to join our team. As well as the robust preceptorship programme we provide to support the consolidation of your skills, we are offering a bonus of an additional £2,400 for the first year for suitable candidates.

We have Level 2 Baby Friendly accreditation, CQC rating of ‘good’ and provide professional development opportunities for all levels of staff and work with the recommendations from the Better Births report and developing our Continuity of Carer team.

Our unit provides three options for place of birth; the established co-located Alexandra Birth Centre, home birth and the Delivery Suite. This ensures that all women have access to the optimal birth environment in accordance with their choice and in line with evidence based practice. Midwives are consequently supported and enabled to practice in the optimal environments for all elements of midwifery care for all women (and their families) to enjoy a normal birth experience.

Our rotational posts offer excellent all round experience in a progressive environment, with the potential for individuals to develop a full range of midwifery skills.
