There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are due for completion by 2025 or soon after. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

There are also plans for a digital transformation, new models of care and a multi-storey car park. As well as this, the trust – which won the UK Best Employer Award (Nursing Times 2019) – is applying for teaching hospital status in recognition of its wide and well-renowned role in educating doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals

We are seeking an exceptional, inspirational, dynamic and highly experienced senior midwife whose role as is key to maintaining strong professional oversight and governance which is pivotal to the quality and safety of our service to support good clinical outcomes and patient and staff experience.

You will have a track record of leading on compliance and quality assurance at a senior level. You will seek out opportunities to collaborate with others ensuring embedded practice, operational and research centered outcomes. You will have a professional “live” Midwifery Registration and be educated to master’s level or have equivalent experience of working at a senior level in this specialist area.

The successful candidate will have the skills to question and support in equal measure therefore enabling transformation and critical enquiry into practice and delivery. They will have an in-depth expert knowledge in quality improvement, clinical/and or system transformation and assurance. They will be required to negotiate, problem solve, think strategically and be able to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. They will also have a flexible and adaptable style of working.

This is an opportunity to work with an energetic and motivated team of obstetricians, midwifery leaders and other local maternity services in the LMNS to hone skills that would further develop your confidence as a midwifery leader in a progressive service. There is the possibility for this role to link with an aspiring Head of Midwifery formal development programme. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual and a strong change agent who aspires to take on a strategic midwifery role in governance and assurance, in partnership with stakeholders and service users.
