The Maternity Improvement Programme is looking for a skilled, motivated and professional Midwife to Lead the Independent Clinical Review process from 1st February 2021 for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Based at PCH, this is a unique role working with our Programme Director/ Director of Midwifery and wider Clinical Review Team, alongside our Welsh Government colleagues and Independent Maternity Oversight panel (IMSOP).

The post holder must be able to demonstrate leadership and transformational support to the Programme Director to respond to the review findings of historic maternity cases in Maternity services at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (Maternity Improvement Programme). This is a highly sensitive programme with the reputation of the Health Board at the forefront of the review following the publication of the RCOG report in April 2019.

The post holder will be expected to promote, oversee and be influential in ensuring the consistency of high standards regarding patient safety in respect of Maternity Services are at the forefront of clinical practice and governance processes. You will need to work in partnership with the directorate Governance team, ensuring that concerns are addressed in a timely manner and that any learning is embedded in practice.

The External Panel will be reliant on you to support their independent reviews and provide further information that is required.

Extensive support will be also be required to be provided to women and their families involved in the review process.

This is a diverse role and will require the ability to flex to meet demanding deadlines. The applicant will need to demonstrate a commitment to improving womens and families’ experiences and outcomes.

This role requires cross site working and travelling.

This post is temporary and fixed term contract or secondment will be considered.
