An exciting new opportunity Whittington Health has arisen for a trainee Consultant Midwife to lead on Continuity of Carer.

The post of a trainee consultant midwife is a new key position for the Trust, accountable to the Matron for outpatients and the birth centre. The successful candidate will work alongside the consultant midwife for Public Health and band 7 community midwifery team leaders, delivering the continuity of carer component of Better Births (NHS 2016). Whittington Health NHS Trust is committed to providing the best care available for women in North London. This position will enable the correct candidate to be a champion for midwifery led care and continuity of carer.

Main duties of the job
The role is to provide expert clinical leadership within the maternity services and a role model for midwives. The successful candidate will be supported to lead, drive forward and evaluate changes in midwifery practice to improve the quality of care for women and their families, in line with key policy documents. The post holder will

Support the matrons and lead midwifery roles to ensure high quality & safe standards of midwifery care
Ensure safe, timely and compassionate care is provided to women and their babies at all times
Support the Director in the implementation of Continuity of carer with focus on the delivery of 75% Continuity of carer for women from an Black Asian and ethnically diverse population.
Be familiar with quality assurance and risk management processes to ensure compliance with policy through audit, ensuring there are robust governance structures for the prevention and management of complaints, clinical incidents and serious incidents
