Band 5/6 Midwife (dependent on experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic Midwives to join the Maternity Team at the Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital. Midwives are expected to rotate throughout the service to include Ante/Postnatal Ward, Pregnancy Assessment Unit, Delivery Suite, Women’s Health Clinic, Community and the new continuity of care team, to meet the ever changing demands of the service. This is in line with local and national service developments reflecting the recommendations outlined in the ‘Better Births’ national maternity review.

We have a number of exciting opportunities for band 5/6 midwives (depending on experience) to join our maternity team on either a permanent, fixed term or secondment contract. We are seeking to appoint professional, dynamic and forward thinking Midwives, passionate about deliverig a high quality service to women and their families.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills in every aspect of midwifery, combining a caring attitude, strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills with both patients and members of the multidisciplinary team.The QE Maternity unit is a Consultant Led Obstetric unit offering parallel, high profile Midwifery Led Care.

The unit prides itself on the partnership working between midwifery and medical teams, which enables ‘wraparound’ care to all women, placing the women and their families at ‘the core’ of everything we do. We are constantly gaining assurance that our services are safe, effective and well led through clinical audit and patient feedback.

In 2016 we received a successful CQC assessment report and have been previously assessed at CNST Level 3.The maternity unit has also successfully secured funding to support a pilot model of continuity of care, based at a local children’s centre.

This includes a dedicated team of 6-8 WTE midwives providing care to both low and high risk women. The aim is to offer continuity of care across all areas of the service including homebirth.

Midwives appointed within the Trust will receive a comprehensive Induction period. Opportunities exist for ongoing professional development and access is available to a range of in-service and external training programs and all Midwives will be well supported within their role.
