Midwife – Band 6 – Contract

Are you passionate about providing the highest quality maternity care and would like to join our friendly multidisciplinary team?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for midwives to join the Integrated Birth Centre and Community Midwifery team at Stockport NHSFT. We are an established midwifery team working together with partnership services, across the four localities of Stockport, for the benefit of women and their families.

Evidence of continual professional development and previous intra-partum experience enabling skills that support birth in high and low risk environments would be essential for this role. Community experience including knowledge of safeguarding procedures and caring for vulnerable families would be advantageous.

The role will involve working within our Birth Centre providing care for low risk women and you will also be a named midwife for a caseload of women within an assigned geographical area, and to whom you will be expected to provide individualized, woman centred care during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. This care may be facilitated in the GP surgery, children's centre, Integrated Birth Centre and or home environment. You will attend home births and be part of the on call rota system. You will work cooperatively with colleagues within the multidisciplinary team to provide midwifery care which ensures best outcomes for women and their families.

You will have vision and a passion for optimizing normality and positive birth experiences for women. You will demonstrate continuity of care and a commitment to improving and developing the service. You will embrace change and developments that support choice and advocacy for women. If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £43.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
