This is a senior Midwifery role and there is an expectation that the post holder will fully participate in the clinical and professional leadership within the organisation. This post requires an enthusiastic and motivated midwife with excellent leadership and communication skills who can demonstrate focus and commitment to creating positive birth experiences for women. Excellent management and leadership qualities are central in maintaining a supportive and forward thinking maternity service that places women and their family's needs central to the service, as well as creating a dynamic and innovative environment for staff. You will have the necessary skills and confidence to practice autonomously and be committed to ensuring that women, babies and their families receive the care and support required to promote optimum outcomes and positive experiences.

It is expected that you will be educated to degree level, have a keen interest in patient safety, knowledge, on-going clinical development, an awareness of research based evidence/guidelines, be on the live mentor register and have competent IT skills.

Education in Mentorship teaching and assessing is essential, as is evidence of continued professional education and development.

Midwives are supported in their practice and professional development by a high profile and supportive approach to Midwifery Supervision.
