Are you just starting on your Midwifery career or looking for a fresh challenge?

NHS Dumfries and Galloway is looking for innovative Midwife practitioners to join our forward thinking maternity services. Newly qualified midwives are also encouraged to join our team.

As we have a mixture of permanent and fixed term posts working within the Hospital Core Team, Antenatal Clinic, the community midwifery teams in the East and the West of the region we will have a post to suit your needs.

With the implementation of The Best Start NHS Dumfries and Galloway are taking a quality improvement approach. This will ensure that changes implemented within our service will evidence improved care to the families in our region. It is important to us that our midwives are partners in developing the service and we are using a breakthrough series collaborative approach to engage with our midwives.

We truly work “with women” which is reflected in our high spontaneous birth rates and low epidural uptake. Our aim is to give women and their families the information that they need to make informed choices throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. Midwives at all levels are encouraged to engage with quality improvement, personal and service development. Any newly qualified midwives who come to work with us have a robust rotational programme to give them an opportunity to consolidate their learning and skills.
