Auckland DHB (ADHB) is a national referral and teaching hospital and one of the largest providers of Women’s Health Services in Australasia. Supporting more than 7,000 births annually across primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary maternity services the Service provides comprehensive maternity care to women.

Maternity Services at Auckland DHB include

• 16 bed Labour and Birthing Unit
• Antenatal and Postnatal wards (77 beds)
• Women’s Assessment Unit providing 24/7 acute services for pregnant women
• Day Assessment Clinic providing appointment based care for women
• Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetric Medicine Unit for women with complex needs

We are looking for a Midwifery Director who is a recognised and respected Midwifery leader with the ability to inspire and get the best from people and teams; is a positive and strong leader with demonstrated leadership experience across the domains of workforce, quality, and professional practice. Auckland District Health Board requires a dynamic leader with a style to lead a values driven and highly professional culture, that supports the growth and strengthening of the workforce, where people strive to provide the very best care for women and their families; The successful candidate is expected to possess robust knowledge of the New Zealand midwifery model and an approach that continues to support a culturally safe and respectful environment. With the capability to make a lasting impact in building the profile and reputation of the Service as NZ’s leading Women’s Health Service the Midwifery Director will be required to work in partnership with women to ensure the services meet their needs; as well as working collaboratively within the Directorate Leadership Team to build good rapport and drive a high performing health system focused on service delivery and outcomes.
