The maternity service at Newham boast a highly experienced group of staff, who are friendly and very supportive. We have been shortlisted for the RCM caring for you Campaign award, this award recognise and rewards excellence and innovation in midwifery practice, management ,education and research throughout the UK..

Our Maternity unit won the RCM Euroking award for better births in 2017. We have the highest out of obstetric birth in London at 25%.

We prioritise the development of our staff and have a multidisciplinary Education Faculty know as ANNA which offers in house and external training packages to enhance staff confidence, knowledge and help them to progress in their career.

Our aim is to provide continuity of care in a sustainable way, to reduce unnecessary interventions and to ensure women are cared for in the place of their choice.

Diabetes Specialist Midwife

We are looking for a midwife passionate about providing midwifery care, co-ordinate and develop services provided to pregnant women with Type I, Type II or Gestational Diabetes. The successful candidate will have to also provide effective leadership to the diabetes/pregnancy team and act as lead midwife on diabetes in maternity services.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the other diabetes team members; contribute to the education and the professional development of staff in the acute and primary care setting. He/she will be actively involved in client/family education, supporting midwives and GP’s to provide on-going antenatal care and planning care for clients. The post holder will be responsible for auditing, monitoring and evaluating the service provided.
