Active on Midwifery Part of the NMC professional Register

We are looking for a permanent Senior Teaching Fellow who is a Midwife, active on the professional NMC register, to contribute to the design and delivery of pre and post registration midwifery education programmes and deliver education activities within other multi-professional healthcare curricula. The midwifery profession and its regulations are amidst a changing landscape. Your experience will be as a midwifery educationalist/teaching fellow for a 1.0 FTE senior teaching fellow, to join our proficient midwifery team. Upon appointment, your University title will be Senior Teaching Fellow.

You will be working within the Faculty of Health Sciences, which one of the largest and most successful Faculties of its kind in the UK. The job

We are committed to building on our strong national and international reputation as a centre of educational excellence. Strong collaborative partnerships are pivotal to achieving our vision and our teaching fellow colleagues actively engage with external agencies influencing policy development and strategic direction.

Daily activities include:

• you as the personal academic tutor to a cohort of midwifery students
• year lead for a cohort of students
• liaising with the programmes manager and senior executive team members to deliver the Faculty core strategy
• liaising with clinical practice to maintain effective partnership working
• contributing to the design and delivery of programmes including module leadership, session delivery and marking activities
• being collegiate and role modelling excellence
• and quality monitoring activities across all Faculty and University teams.

The skills/experience needed

You will have an active Midwifery registration with the NMC, have formal teaching qualification(s) and be of doctoral level or equivalent. With an excellent reputation and evidence of achievement within relevant healthcare settings, education and/or research, you will contribute equally to the development and delivery of our educational provision espousing the University strategy. You will be able to challenge, be creative and innovative with education to further advance the delivery of high quality midwifery programmes in order to educate a midwifery workforce fit for 2030 and beyond. You will be joining a vibrant academic community committed to pooling and extending understanding in research, education and practice to create integrated educational programmes unique to the Faculty to make a positive difference to local and global health.
