Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT) is a world-renowned centre of clinical excellence and one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the UK, which has been operating as a Foundation Trust from 1 October 2015. The Trust is also committed to be an active partner in healthcare innovation, research and workforce education, with the aim of forming an effective bridge between research in basic science and in healthcare service provision, and the delivery of evidence-based, best practice care, turning today's discoveries into tomorrow's care.

The OUHFT is made up of four hospitals within the county - the John Radcliffe Hospital (which includes the Women's Centre, the Children's Hospital, West Wing, Eye Hospital and Heart Centre), the Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, all located in Oxford, and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, north Oxfordshire.

We are one of the largest Obstetric Units in the country with 4 stand-alone Midwifery Led Units as well, providing high risk and 'standard' maternity care as well as Fetomaternal medicine to circa 8,684 babies born annually.

Gynaecology services encompass a 20 bedded ward at the JR for elective and emergency surgery, and a 9 bedded day case unit at the Horton. We also have an innovative 'off site' Early Pregnancy Service which has been established and will open in September 2017.

The Head of Midwifery and Women's Health provides the professional leadership, support and advice in relation to the delivery and development of our maternity and gynaecology services across the Trust, within a dynamic and diverse environment, to ensure the successful achievement of the Trust vision.

Accountable to the Divisional Director, and working to the Clinical Director, you'll have a prime focus on the day-to-day delivery of high standards of women centred care across integrated care pathways and services. You will also work with, and be supported by, committed, energetic and motivated Divisional and Directorate Leadership Teams determined to deliver world class and compassionate excellence for women across Oxfordshire and beyond.

The Head of Midwifery and Women's Health is the Trust expert on midwifery and maternity issues both internally and externally and responsible for ensuring that a culture of proactive professionalism is embedded and promoted. You will act as a role model for all Trust midwives at all times and will be expected to demonstrate a highly visible, authoritative and democratic leadership style, which is underpinned by the values of OUHFT.
