The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £32,958 - £39,324 per annum plus £2,623 London Weighting Allowance per annum depending on qualifications.

We are seeking a Research Midwife to become an integral member of our Fetal Imaging team at St. Thomas’ Hospital. The post holder will be part of a team of clinical and non-clinical research scientists and will participate in the management of a portfolio of studies and clinical research related to fetal MR imaging, collaborating with multidisciplinary key personnel from King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and other collaborating sites.

The post holder will organise the practical aspects required for pregnant mothers having an MR scan. This includes communicating with referring hospitals, the participant and the fetal imaging team; consenting women for research studies; collecting and storing clinical and imaging data; liaising with the team to communicate results to parents; and organising follow-up appointments.

Aspects of the role will include clinical tasks such as clinical observation and monitoring of mothers whilst in the scanner, taking blood samples, setting up fetal ECG recordings and liaising with radiographers and relevant clinicians. Applicants must be willing to work flexibly, including some early evening and weekends, in accordance with the requirements of the role. You are also required to complete sufficient clinical hours to maintain your registration status which is at least 450 hours of practice in the three years prior to renewing your registration.

This post is based at St. Thomas’ Hospital in the Department of Perinatal Imaging & Health and Centre for the Developing Brain, both part of the Division of Imaging Sciences & Biomedical Engineering.
