Joining us

Waikato is a large geographical area with a diverse urban and rural population, the hospital is a tertiary facility and our Maternity service provides care for over three and a half thousand births per year. We also serve women requiring complex care from the Midland region and we support a range of primary birthing units, bringing the total number of births in the Waikato locality to around five thousand per annum.

We are passionate about supporting our newly graduated midwives and have a comprehensive first year of practice programme and competitive New Graduate Allowance. We are committed to building close relationships with our LMC community and engage their valuable insight as part of our quality improvement initiatives.

Our hospital midwives rotate through various areas: including birthing, women’s assessment, and post-natal wards and we have many specialist midwife roles, senior midwife positions and community midwife opportunities. Our midwifery educators support with mandatory education needs, career progression, and gaining post-graduate qualifications.
