We are looking for experienced midwives to join our expanding maternity department. We are fortunate to be able to offer new and exciting opportunities within our team who provide personalised, safe care and wellbeing for all women, babies and their families. Following the publication of the Ockenden report, as a service and Trust we are working positively towards achievement of the recommended immediate and essential actions.

Our Maternity Services at North Bristol NHS Trust include the following:

●24hr antenatal assessment unit
●An alongside midwifery unit and a freestanding midwifery unit which support approx. 600 births per year in the birth centre and at home.
●A 15 bed Consultant led Obstetric Unit
●Cross city maternal medicine services
●A Fetal Medicine Service inc. preterm clinics
●A Community Midwifery Service
●Specialist Midwifery services including bereavement midwives, complex care midwives, perinatal mental health, practice development, infant feeding and fetal monitoring
●Collaborative working with the Trust theatre teams in the provision of elective and emergency maternity theatre care
●Co-produced services with the Local Maternity System and Maternity Voices Partnerships

●Able to use your own initiative taking the lead in caring for women and their babies, and can identify when care needs to be escalated
●Able to develop your clinical skills and participate in continuing their professional development
●Able to drive or have access to a car

We are offering many exciting opportunities that will help you to develop skills in all areas of maternity, including our antenatal, postnatal wards and central delivery suite. In addition, we have a fabulous co-located Midwifery Led Unit at Southmead Maternity, a Standalone Midwifery Led Unit at Cossham Hospital.

Our Practice development team will provide you with a comprehensive orientation programme that will enable you to gain experience within the hospital and community settings. Our clinical education facilitators/practice education facilitators offer the opportunity to work alongside you within all clinical areas to ensure a smooth transition to our unit.
