We’re looking for Nurse or Midwife Practitioners to come and join our caring, compassionate, credible, and committed team to provide abortion and sexual health information, pre-treatment assessment and treatment to clients, either face to face or via the telephone, who have come to BPAS for treatment.

As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner at BPAS you will work in accordance to NMC guidelines for Professional Practice to carry out point of care testing, including pregnancy tests and venepuncture if necessary, and to give results to clients. The role involves having a client-centered approach to establish that the client is sure of her decision to request a termination and ensure that the reason complies with the terms of the Abortion Act.

The successful candidate will be required to work in theatre / recovery as part of this role.

Typical day to day duties:

Obtain full medical history from the client and identify clinical factors which may place the client at risk.
Discuss and confirm treatment options with the client if applicable.
Discuss, inform, and confirm the client’s choice of contraception, and provide/fit where relevant.
Explain procedures, answer queries, check, and complete documentation with clients throughout their care pathway.
Act as an advocate to clients ensuring that adequate instructions and information are given to ensure effective continuing care.
Carry out post treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns raised by the client.

About You

You’ll be a Registered Nurse or Midwife with experience of working to guidelines, procedures, and policies as well as completion of client documentation. You’ll be friendly, non-judgemental and have a professional approach to your work.

Knowledge of Health & Safety / COSHH requirements as well as Infection Control.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to communicate at all levels of an organisation.
Great listening skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to a client-let service.
Sound administrative skills.
Further Information

Salary: £31,500 to £39,000 per annum, pro rata for part time hours.

Working Pattern: 15.5 hours per week | Worked on a 2 week rota.
Week 1 | Monday 9.30am-2.30pm, Wednesday 9.30am-2.30pm and Friday 9.30am-2.3pm
Week 2 | Monday 9.30am-2.30pm, Wednesday 9.30am-2.30pm and Thursday 9.30am-3.30pm
